In your opinion, what is the absolute best thing about Archbishop Bergan Catholic School? I enjoy being able to be involved with the students in different areas whether it is in the classroom teaching them or being able to coach them in the different sports. Being a smaller school enables the kids to be involved in a lot of things and the ability to try many different things.

Computer Applications I

Computer Applications I is for students who want to learn to use the computer as a tool of productivity for general and personal purposes. With the help of a self-paced tutorial, students will learn intermediate and advanced operations of the tools of Microsoft Office to develop their word processing, spreadsheet, database, and desktop publishing skills. The choices include advanced units on Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Students may also complete introducto1y units on Access and Publisher. They will work on a self-paced basis, but with a timeline and credit requirements. Patience, perseverance, and problem-solving skills are necessary to complete the work and will be developed as the course progresses.

This will include the structure of computer programs and the planning that goes into creating a computer program. After the introduction, students will get to choose which programming platform to use to design, code, and test programs. The choices include Visual Basic, Visual C+, or Visual C#. Students may also choose to do web programming with HTML/XMUCS to create web pages. The work is detail-oriented allowing students to develop patience, diligence, perseverance, and problem-solving skills as the course progresses.

The focus of this course is on using Photoshop CS2 and Ulead Video Studio 11 Software to introduce students to ente1tainment based multimedia applications. This course is designed to take students' knowledge of computer technology and digital photography while extending and expanding it as the students create digital photography projects, slide shows and short video presentations. Students will be able to take and manipulate digital photos and video, while making a presentation.
